After about a month ago, the Maccabi Tel Aviv Association submitted to Interior Minister Ayelet Shaked a request to advance the naturalization of the 14-year-old Ukrainian boy, Timor Minglov, who holds Israeli residency and immigrated to Israel about two years ago with his mother, who is married to an Israeli citizen, and after a month passed without a response, a request was sent last Thursday additional to the office of the Minister of the Interior.
The Maccabi Tel Aviv Association asked the Minister of the Interior to hurry up and approve the request even before the elections, so that Minglov could already participate in preparatory competitions that are starting these days, before the World Championship that will take place in April 2023.
As I recall, the application for naturalization was supported by professional support from wall to wall, including the CEO of the Israel Olympic Committee, the CEO of the Israel Gymnastics Association, the CEO of Maccabi Tel Aviv, the coach of the Israeli national team and Minglov's personal trainer, and even received the recommendation of the Minister of Culture and Sports Hili Trooper .
Attorney Tomer Varsha, who represents the association and the family, said: "Although we are in an election period and Minister Shaked is certainly busy, but if the request is not discussed these days, Israeli sports will miss the train and we will miss a golden opportunity to put Israel on the gymnastics map once again.
