gardener Franck Ponthier welcomes us to his astonishing garden between the towers, dotted with works of art and whimsical installations.

Five minutes from the Saint-Denis-Université metro station, this Sensitive Zone -

"sensitive for the senses, not for violence",

specifies Franck Ponthier - has everything of a reminiscence of what was once the plain of Virtues : land cultivated to meet the needs of the Ile-de-France region.

But urbanization got the better of agriculture and the market gardeners left Saint-Denis over the years, until the last of them in 2016. Having the desire to preserve the original function of the land, the municipality launched a call for applications for what would be the urban farm of the future.

The Dionysian Olivier Darné, visual artist, beekeeper and founder of the artistic collective Parti poétique, won the project.
