A woman who died in Heide in Schleswig-Holstein on Monday was killed by her husband, according to the police.
The victim was a 37-year-old from Chemnitz in Saxony, according to the police in Itzehoe on Tuesday.
The woman was walking the sidewalk with her 13-year-old son in the afternoon.
When a vehicle stopped next to her, the passenger got out and suddenly shot the woman.
According to the investigators, the suspect was then taken to the police by the driver and turned himself in.
The 37-year-old was injured so badly that she died in a hospital.
The couple's son suffered shock and also had to be taken to a hospital.
According to the police, the shooter is the 54-year-old husband of the woman and father of the 13-year-old, it said.
The spouses lived apart.
The officials did not provide any further details or information on possible backgrounds to the crime, citing the ongoing investigations.
This also applied to the driver who had accompanied the husband.
