The beginning of a Ukrainian counter-offensive was taking shape on the eastern front, which had been static since the liberation of the Kharkiv-Izioum-Lyman axis in early October, soldiers engaged in this sector said on Tuesday.

"The trend is good, indeed on our side, the front line has advanced (

this week

) quickly and well", assured, from a position in the village of Zarichne, an officer of the special forces of the Ukrainian army, on behalf of code "Iva", in operation on this front.

“We are concentrating on the Svatové-Kreminna road, with the objective of cutting the Russian supply line”, towards occupied Lyssytchansk, continues the soldier, on condition of anonymity.

The town of Svatové, occupied by Moscow since March 6, is one of the Russian army's key logistics nodes in this occupied part of the Lugansk region.

The Ukrainian forces are moving up from the south, in particular on the axis parallel to the Svatové-Kreminna highway, and the road which passes through Nevske.

Towards Nevske, “our army is advancing very well”

“In the direction of Nevske, our army is advancing very well, in that of Kreminna it is more complicated due to daily bombardments.

For the moment it is still the ( Ukrainian

) territorial defense

in this sector, excellent for maintaining positions, but not calibrated for the offensive,” the officer continued.

"We won't talk about localities in particular, and we let the general staff do that, but we can say that the Svatové-Kreminna highway is practically under the control of the Ukrainian forces", indicated on Friday on national television the governor of the region, Serguiï Gaïdaï.
