French students will have an extra day off this year.
The start of the school year, at the end of the Christmas holidays, will thus take place on Tuesday January 3 and not January 2.

The procedure for drawing up the school calendar
"includes a phase of consultation with the ministry responsible for tourism (in particular with the National Tourism Council), with the Ministry of the Interior (as far as road safety is concerned), with the mountain professionals and elected officials, and with internal ministry partners (staff unions, parent-teacher federations)
