Yesterday afternoon (9th), they raided a unit on the new reclamation street, smashed suspected illegal gambling stalls, and seized 2 Zhang baccarat table, 59 decks of poker, 10 stools, about 4,000 yuan of gambling money and chips and other evidence.

During the operation, a woman surnamed Li (54 years old) was arrested on suspicion of "managing gambling establishments"; 5 men and 7 women (aged 20 to 66) were arrested on suspicion of "assisting in the management of gambling establishments" or "gambling in gambling establishments".

The owner was also fined for violating the Prevention and Control of Disease (Prohibition of Gathering) Regulations (Cap. 599G).

According to the police, the illegal casino operated by the criminals is located near the residences, and its sanitation is very bad, which has caused great nuisance to the nearby residences.

The police reiterated that according to the "Gambling Ordinance" Chapter 148 of the Laws of Hong Kong, operating a gambling establishment and gambling in a gambling establishment are serious crimes. Once convicted, the former is liable to a fine of 5 million yuan and imprisonment for 7 years; 30,000 yuan and 9 months in prison.
