After the cancellation of their elections by the Constitutional Council, the macronist Thomas Mesnier, the lepenist Anne-Sophie Frigout and the socialist Bertrand Petit will have to defend their short balance sheets on January 22 and 29 in partial elections.
They probably did not celebrate the end of year celebrations in the greatest serenity.
Among them, the former deputy (Horizons) Thomas Mesnier, who was a long-time emergency doctor, is preparing to stick his new posters.
"I'm going to go back to the markets to distribute leaflets with the activists, have coffees"
, says the elected representative of Charente (1st district), deprived of the seat he had held since 2017. He had been re-elected in the second round in last June against a candidate from La France insoumise with only 24 votes in advance.
Five months after the election, the Constitutional Council estimated that 27 votes were
"irregularly cast"
, thus invalidating the result.
