South Carolina's constitution provides for a right to privacy that includes the right to abortion: the state's supreme court established it, stating that "
the decision to terminate a pregnancy is one of the most personal and private considerations possible
".
The judges thus overturn the state law which prohibits abortion
after about six weeks of pregnancy.
