Heavy clashes are underway today in Cusco, the capital of the Peruvian province of the same name, between a large number of demonstrators and the police who are trying to prevent their advance towards the city's international airport.
The media underline the climate of great tension that exists, with the agents who, even aboard armored cars, use tear gas and rubber bullets, and the demonstrators who respond with stones and all kinds of blunt objects.
At the moment there is no balance sheet of the clashes, even if a demonstrator evoked "many of our wounded comrades", while the media cite two officers taken to hospital.
In the mobilization, slogans are launched against the Parliament, the president Dina Boluarte, and for the holding of immediate elections.
