The Syrian heritage song, its definition, and the difference between it and the popular one, and its specificity in the provinces, was the title of the lecture given by the researcher Jumana Al-Saleh, with the participation of the artists Talal Fahd Ballan and Ali Khalil, and the orchestra that presented a group of traditional songs on the stage of the Arab Cultural Center in Al-Adawi.

Al-Saleh defined the traditional folk song as the folklore through which people express their joys and sorrows, their customs and traditions, and the good values that have been inherited by generations.

Regarding the difference between the Syrian traditional song and the popular folk song, Al-Saleh indicated that many of the popular songs did not adhere to social values, while the traditional songs carried meanings and societal issues with simple and easy melodies.

During the symposium, the artists Ballan and Khalil and the band presented a combination of the provincial heritage, where the son of the late Fahd Ballan presented songs from the heritage of Jabal al-Arab, while the singer Khalil presented a variety of Aleppo qudud and the folklore of the coastal, central and eastern regions, and songs from the Damascene folklore that lived in the minds of Syrians until our time.
