Structural engineer Jesús Valdez, director in Mexico of the construction firm Miyamoto International, affirmed that the lack of compliance with construction regulations would be one of the reasons behind the devastation in Turkey after the catastrophic earthquake that struck that country on September 6. February.
The expert commented that, once the immediate emergency is over, it could take years for the work to clean up the collapsed buildings to be completed.
