(ANSA) - ISTANBUL, MARCH 14 - Schools in Tehran province will close two hours early to prevent incidents after activists called for three days of demonstrations on the occasion of the traditional 'Charshanbesuri' celebrations, the night before the last Wednesday before the Iranian New Year (March 21) which falls on March 14 this year.

This was announced by the Etemad newspaper by announcing that in the province of Kurdistan, in Qom and Qazvin, the schools have already been closed since this morning.

According to the Bbc Persian, the Tehran police have announced that plainclothes officers will be used tomorrow to stop possible demonstrations.

Already last night anti-government demonstrations were held in several Iranian cities, not only in the capital but also in Sanandaj, Mashhad and Kamiyaran.

The Intelligence Ministry has announced that dozens of "terrorists" who planned sabotage during the 'Charshanbesuri' were arrested, among them some "involved in the anti-system protests that began in September".
