While Amazon saw the first season of "The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power" as a success for various reasons, far more viewers stayed tuned to the end of the first season internationally.

Only 37 percent watched the end in the USA.

At the end of last year, Amazon Studios took stock of the first season of The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power and declared the first season a success.

On the one hand due to the sheer number of views, on the other hand due to the newly concluded subscriptions to Amazon Prime Video and even the reviews were generally impressive, even if there was no great success at the TV awards.

Unidentified sources from The Hollywood Reporter are said to have now determined the audience retention of the first season.

According to this, after the extremely successful start, 45 percent of the international audience watched the season through to the end.

An average result for a season of its length that certainly fell a bit short of Amazon executives' expectations - especially at a price point of $715 million according to the Wall Street Journal.
