By declaring a truce, Iran and Saudi Arabia are trying to open a new era

A Saudi delegation visited Tehran this weekend to consider the reopening of a diplomatic representation.

It is a change of course in the particularly turbulent history of relations between Tehran and Riyadh.

A Saudi delegation arrived in the Islamic Republic of Iran on Saturday to discuss the reopening of the kingdom's diplomatic representation in the Iranian capital, two days after a historic meeting in Beijing between the heads of diplomacy of the two countries.

This all-out rapprochement comes in application of the famous “tripartite” agreement, sealed a month ago between these two heavyweights in the region and China, after seven years of rupture.

On March 10, the three countries created a surprise by announcing the start of an unprecedented truce from Beijing, confirming by this measure the rise of China as a new regional player, against a backdrop of American disengagement.
