Jacques Gaillot served as Bishop of Evreux from 1982 to 1995. Bishop Gaillot, a protesting bishop who defended the cause of divorcees, homosexuals and immigrants, within the Church, died Wednesday at the age of 87, we learned from the Conference of Bishops of France. Jacques Gaillot died in Paris on Wednesday afternoon, following a dazzling illness, a relative of the bishop told AFP.
