(ANSA) - MADRID, APRIL 12 - The alert level for the potential dangers associated with drought is growing in Spain: a situation that is continuing in various areas of the country.

In this sense, the Ministry of Agriculture has convened a meeting with agents of the primary sector for next Wednesday to evaluate the impact on agricultural and breeding activities.

Meanwhile, water reserves in the country are at 51.2% of the total, below average, and have decreased by 0.4% in the last week.

The drought situation is particularly acute in some Spanish regions, for example in Catalonia, where yesterday the regional leader, Pere Aragonès, defined the absence of rainfall as "the most serious problem" facing the territory in the immediate future.

Meanwhile, the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) reported that 2022 was the year with the highest sea temperatures since 1940 in the waters surrounding Spain, with an average excess of 0.7 degrees above the levels considered normal.
