(ANSA) - ROME, APRIL 13 - The arbitral tribunal at the Permanent Court of Arbitration in The Hague has ordered Russia to pay Ukrainian company Naftogaza $5 billion in compensation for losses in Crimea starting in 2014.

This was announced on Facebook by the head of Naftogaz Alexei Chernyshev, as reported by the Ukrainian media.

"The arbitral tribunal confirmed that Russia must compensate Naftogaz in full for losses caused by Russia's illegal seizure of assets of Naftogaz group companies in Crimea," the head of the Ukrainian company argues.

According to the Naftogaz press service, Russia now has to comply with this decision in accordance with its obligations under international law.
