In the European Parliament, the EPP tempted by a union of the rights with Giorgia Meloni

STORY - Among the Social Democrats as among the Liberals, these maneuvers are observed with attention.

Too flammable among the socialist and liberal partners, too divisive for part of the European right.

Manfred Weber, the leader of the EPP, who appeared with the Italian Giorgia Meloni at the start of the year in Rome, is now much more discreet about his projects.

If he has to go to Rome again in June, it is for an audience at the Vatican.

No meeting is planned this time with the president of the Italian Council, also patroness of the Brothers of Italy and of the European conservatives and reformists (ECR).

However, the Bavarian, member of the CSU, has not given up on getting closer to the Italian leader, as he seems convinced that a union of the rights would be beneficial to both parties.

The recent agreements between the classical right and the extreme right in Italy, Sweden and perhaps soon in Finland, could be replicated at European level.
