Tehran police have closed two restaurants for failing to observe the law requiring women to wear the veil in public.

This was announced by BBC Persian, according to which the premises had previously received warnings that they would be closed if customers and employees continued to break the law.

In recent weeks, numerous restaurants and shopping malls have been closed by law enforcement in Tehran and other cities in Iran after police announced a new plan to enforce the wearing of the headscarf which includes the examination of CCTV footage of commercial establishments and the impounding of cars for women driving without the hijab.
