ANALYSIS – After his remarks in Marseille on the “strainer” borders, this line acclaimed by the base also isolates the PCF deputy from the North.

“We are the left Roussel!”

The phrase is spoken with enthusiasm and pride.

This pride of the pioneers who know they are isolated but who are convinced that they are on the eve of great conquests.

Valère Staraselski, a close adviser to the national secretary of the PCF, is one of those who could carry, on Monday, for the traditional May Day parade, a red flag in one hand and the tricolor in the other.

In recent months, this essayist and writer, keen on a history of France that does not begin with the Revolution, has accompanied Fabien Roussel on his national tour.

It preceded their 39th congress which ended on April 10 in Marseilles with a large re-election, with more than 80% of the some 700 delegates.

Staraselski has recorded thousands of notes in his notebooks for a forthcoming book.
