Michael Douglas will receive the Palme d'Or of honor at the 76th Cannes Film Festival (May 16-27) in recognition of his distinguished career and commitment to cinema.

The Festival will pay homage to him during the opening ceremony on Tuesday 16 May.


    "After more than 50 years in the business, it is a source of pride to return to the Croisette to open the Festival and embrace our shared global cinematic language," commented the 78-year-old American actor, two Oscars, 4 Golden Globes, 1 Emmy and a Bafta among many awards.
