It was a strange moment, a mixture of age-old rites and pageantry, religion and history, nostalgia and military demonstrations.

One of those events both out of time and modernized of which only the British have the secret.

Whether within the walls of Westminster Abbey or the thoroughfares leading up to the palace, the coronation of Charles III provided a spectacle whose every moment immediately seemed to become a historical snapshot.

In the opinion of the English press, despite an unfavorable sky, the day of the coronation was successful.

which always keeps a cool head on monarchical subjects, recognizes that it constituted an

"irresistible spectacle".

The beauty of the music and songs impressed.

Especially when the Westminster Choir performed Handel's

Zadok the Priest

at the holiest moment of the service, when the king was anointed with oil.

The newspaper notes, however, that across the country the enthusiasm was measured.
