Finance Committee Chairman Moshe Gafni on Tuesday harshly criticized Attorney General Gali Baharav-Miara in a closed meeting with Knesset critics. In remarks made at the meeting, the contents of which were obtained by Israel Hayom, Gafni said: "If it had been on the left, it would have flown in five minutes."
In the closed conversation, Gafni strongly criticized the government: "The right does not know how to rule. If the judges say that there is no offense of bribery, then what will they sentence him to for the champagne? About Iraq? Oh, Iraq he didn't get. The legal advisor goes and says, 'I'm continuing with the bribery offense,' and she's the government's advisor. On the right, they don't know how to rule. If it had been on the left, the attorney general would have flown in five minutes."

Gafni added: "They say about me all the time that I'm such a leftist. But for 34 years I went with the right. I really think that there is no need to quarrel with the U.S. and that it is forbidden to go up to the Temple Mount, which is an obligation that angers the Muslim world. And I say this to Netanyahu and in meetings of coalition leaders."

Gafni also criticized the left-wing demonstrations against the ultra-Orthodox: "As long as we were as if we might be going with the left, not a word was said about us in Haaretz, but as soon as I announced that we were going with the right, attacks against us and demonstrations began in Bnei Brak. It's starting to bore me."
