Police Commissioner Kobi Shabtai and National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir are expected to meet on Wednesday, for the first time after the announcements, for a concluding meeting.
As first reported by Israel Hayom, the minister decided not to extend the term of the police commissioner for another year, and announced this while the commissioner was nursing his relative in a hospital in Germany.

The timing of the announcement caused a storm, but the picture was quite clear to both sides following a conversation they had held a few days earlier, on the 8th, in which Ben-Gvir refused to accept Shabtai's recommendation to appoint the commander of the Border Police to command the Tel Aviv District.
