Like a mechanism that would have been packed, the count of members of Israel's Arab community who have fallen under the bullets of mafia gangs continues to increase. Since the beginning of the year, 109 Israeli Arabs have been killed in settling scores: this is already as many as for the whole of 2022. Crime flourishes in these communities against a backdrop of identity malaise and unemployment, in a climate of impunity fostered by omerta and mistrust of Israeli institutions. Lacking prospects, many young Israeli Arabs choose gangs and the promise of easy money.
Whether in the Negev, in the south, in the mixed cities of the center or on the Mediterranean coast, this scourge spares almost none of the cities in Israel where this population lives.
