The bomb's incarnation: A powerful explosion was recorded Sunday evening in the eastern Ukrainian city of Donetsk as residents posted videos and images of a pillar of fire and huge smoke billowing over the Russian-controlled suburb of Makivka to the east.
In the early hours of the morning, Denis Pushilin, head of the Donetsk People's Republic, the pro-Russian separatist group that controls the province, wrote that the Ukrainian army had attacked the city's number two hospital and extensive damage had been caused to the building.
Identification and destruction: Ukrainian army sets fire to Russian weapons depot
In response to Pushilin's claim, Kyiv chose to release a video showing the true location of the attack. A short drone video shows an abandoned construction site with a large quantity of missiles held in disorder in a large yard inside the compound.
This is followed by a direct hit on the compound and a fierce series of explosions and secondary explosions. Among other things, missiles are seen being activated and flying out of the burning compound in disorder. This is a military blow to the Russian army, which suffers from a shortage of artillery and is fighting fiercely in Donetsk Oblast, but also a blow to morale. Online users joked at the expense of the Russian military, claiming that the spectacle looked "like a fireworks display to mark American Independence Day."
