An Israeli student was injured on Friday night in Brooklyn in an anti-Semitic stabbing attack. His condition is mild and he was discharged from the hospital a few hours later.
According to a preliminary investigation, the Israeli was asked by the two attackers whether he was Jewish. After he answered in the affirmative, they stabbed him in the arm, apparently with a screwdriver.
He told a representative of the Jewish community in the Crown Heights neighborhood, Jacob Berman, who reported it on social media. The Anti-Defamation League confirmed the incident and said that "we are working on it with law enforcement and community partners."
It should be noted that in recent years there has been a steady and worrying increase in the number of antisemitic incidents in the United States. In order to curb the phenomenon, President Biden launched for the first time a national plan to combat antisemitism. The Jewish community welcomed the move, but many noted that the plan was not aggressive enough.
