Israel's volleyball team was eliminated Tuesday evening from the European Championship held at the Shlomo Group Arena in Tel Aviv. Israel lost its fifth game of the tournament to Turkey 3:0 (25:23, 25:13, 25:17), and did not advance to the final eight.
Itamar Stein's Blue and White came into the important encounter after victories over Greece and Romania, but an expected loss to Olympic champions France, and on Tuesday another loss against Portugal, when they knew it was a game for the jackpot.
Turkey has yet to qualify for the Olympic Games, but its resume is much bigger and more impressive than Israel's, with appearances at the World Championships (including the last one, where they finished in 11th place).

This is the first tournament in which Israel participates for the first time since 1971 in Italy, when we finished in 12th place. Originally, the group stage was supposed to take place in Ukraine, but due to the war it was moved to Tel Aviv.
