(ANSA) - ROME, SEP 13 - A five-month-old baby boy has drownedafter he ended up in the water in a migrant-boat tragedy off theItalian island of Lampedusa early on Wednesday.
According to an initial reconstruction, the fatal accident tookplace when the people aboard the boat he was on all moved to oneside, causing several to fall into the water, as a Coast Guardvessel approached to rescue it.
The other people who fell in the water were saved.
The mother, a minor from Guinea who was traveling with otherfamily members, was being given psychological support atLampedusa's migrant hotspot.
The baby's body has been taken to the mortuary at the island'sCala Pisana cemetery.
It had initially been reported that the baby died in a chaoticlanding operation in Lampedusa's port. (ANSA).
