"It is with great sadness that I announce that my father Donald Trump has died. I will run for president in 2024," Donald Trump Jr.'s account on social network X (formerly Twitter) announced today, sparking outrage.

It soon became clear that this was a hack into the account, during which offensive and racist tweets were also uploaded.

Earlier this week, Twitter owner Elon Musk announced that he may charge users a fee to reduce the number of fake accounts. "We're going to start charging a small monthly fee for using System X," Musk said during a panel discussion Monday with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. According to Musk, the payment will only be "a few dollars or something."

The offensive posts, as well as the post about Trump's "death," were removed.
