Police on Sunday arrested a suspect involved in the murder of the young man in the city last night. The arrest came after nighttime activity by Southern District police forces to locate suspects involved in the shooting.
The commander of the Southern District, Major General Amir Cohen, arrived at the scene and conducted an assessment of the situation together with all the command, intelligence and investigation officials, and instructed to act aggressively and quickly and to use all the tools and means required to locate the perpetrators of the offense, and to impose the investigation on the central unit of the Negev region.

The district commander emphasized the importance of the cooperation of all those involved and preventing any attempt to disrupt the investigation in order to lead to the suspects involved in the murder, arrest them and bring them to justice.
This morning, police forces from the Rahat police station of the Negev region raided the home of a resident of the city on suspicion of involvement in the shooting incident that led to the murder of the victim and carried out his arrest. According to the initial suspicion, the background to the incident was a criminal dispute between two factions of the same family.
The 29-year-old suspect was detained for interrogation conducted by the central unit of the Negev region, and at the end of his interrogation he will be brought before the Beer Sheva Magistrate's Court today for a hearing on a request to extend his detention.
