A letter written by the chairman of the town's committee, Assaf Vakart, stated: "Closing the gates and restricting movement will cause enormous damage to freedom of movement and tourism. Opening the gates will cause hundreds of demonstrators to enter and disrupt daily life. Your resilience as a community allowed us to get through the first event and I believe we will succeed in that as well."
