"The Rafah border crossing between Egypt and the Gaza Strip is open to smuggling and has not been closed since the beginning of the current crisis." The Egyptian Foreign Ministry said in a statement, stressing that the crossing is however unusable because "the structures on the Palestinian side have been destroyed due to repeated Israeli bombings". Egypt calls on "Israel to avoid targeting the Palestinian side of the crossing so that reparations efforts are successful" and allow transit, "a lifeline to support Palestinian brothers in the Gaza Strip"
