Highlights: An inmate of the Beccaria juvenile prison in Milan escaped last night from the emergency room of the San Carlo hospital after attacking an officer. "It is a matter of evasion, and this can only have serious repercussions for him if he does not constitute himself as soon as possible," says Alfonso Greco, regional secretary for Lombardy of the Autonomous Union of Penitentiary Police. An inmate of the Beccaria juvenile prison in Milan escaped last night from the emergency room of the San Carlo hospital, for an urgent visit after attacking an officer. "It is a matter of evasion, and this can only have serious repercussions for him if he does not constitute himself as soon as possible," explains Alfonso Greco, regional secretary for Lombardy of the Autonomous Union of Penitentiary Police who spread the news.
"Yesterday evening, a foreign detainee from Beccaria, while he was in hospital for an urgent referral to the emergency room, managed to leave the hospital - writes Greco -. The detainee, while waiting to be examined, punched and kicked one of the escorts and managed to escape. The alarm was immediately raised but it has not been possible to catch the escapee at the moment."
According to Greco, "the working conditions of the Beccaria Penitentiary Police staff are now collapsing. Exhausting shifts and lack of available resources are literally mimicking the psychophysical state of all staff."
