U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken returned to Israel today to meet with Israeli Prime Minister Benyamin Netanyahu, with whom he discussed his commitments with partners in the region and received an update on the situation on the ground. Blinken "underscored his unwavering support for Israel's right to defend itself against Hamas terrorism and reaffirmed the United States' determination to provide the Israeli government with what it needs to protect its citizens."
He also discussed with Netanyahu "the close coordination of the United States with the United Nations and regional partners to facilitate the delivery of humanitarian aid to civilians." Blinken also discussed the U.S. commitment "to the swift and safe release of those held hostage by Hamas."
