Two people died and several people were injured as a result of gunfire in the centre of Brussels. This was reported by local authorities. According to the first known elements, the shooting took place around 19:15 p.m. near Place Sainctelette, between Boulevard d'Ypres and Boulevard du Ninième de ligne. Numerous emergency services arrived on the scene. No suspects have yet been arrested.

In images taken by a resident of the area, a man in a fluorescent orange jacket and a white helmet, a weapon in his hand, is seen getting on a scooter and fleeing. He allegedly fired into an atrium before hitting two people in a taxi. According to police sources quoted by local media, the man who opened fire with a Kalashnikov shouted "Allah akbar".
