"The intelligence under my command failed and did not give advance warning of the Hamas terror attack. We have not lived up to our most important mission. As the head of intelligence, I take full responsibility,'' said the head of military intelligence, General Aharon Haliva.

''In the future we will investigate thoroughly. Now all our eyes are on one mission: to go to war and win." Even the Chief of Staff, General Herzi Halevi, and the head of the Shin Bet (Internal Security) Ronen Bar, admitted that they had failed and had not been able to prevent the attack.
