ANALYSIS - The text, the content of which was unveiled on Thursday, provides for several constitutional amendments aimed at firming up immigration issues.

After the long week of the senatorial right in combat, Les Républicains (LR) in the National Assembly are waiting for the text on immigration with "firm footing" but with "circumspection", in the words of their group president. Olivier Marleix did not applaud the compromise with the centrist and LR allies, but he prefers not to comment on the work of his colleagues until this first stage is completed, as he would not appreciate senators interfering in the work of deputies.

Among those who had questioned the risks of the senatorial strategy, some deputies acknowledged that, in the end, Bruno Retailleau had been right to hold out.
