Italy will host a summit of G7 heads of state and government from 13 to 15 June in Puglia, Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni announced on Friday (10 November), whose country will take over the presidency of the club in 2024. "The G7 leaders' meeting will be held from 13 to 15 June 2024 in Puglia in Borgo Egnazia," she said in a video message posted on social media. The group of seven industrialized countries (the United States, Japan, France, the United Kingdom, Germany, Italy and Canada) is chaired by Japan until the end of the year.
Puglia, the tip of the Italian boot, is one of the most fashionable tourist regions of the peninsula, where Giorgia Meloni herself spent her summer holidays. Borgo Egnazia, located on the Adriatic coast halfway between Bari and Brindisi, is an exclusive luxury hotel known for hosting the 2012 wedding of American singer Justin Timberlake to actress Jessica Biel.
