IDF Spokesperson Daniel Hagari promised Monday night that the fighting in Gaza would continue until the last of the hostages returned. In addition, he taunted Irish Prime Minister Leo Varadkar, insisting that "our abductees were not lost" – after Varadkar called Emily Hand, who was kidnapped and returned to Israel, "a girl who was lost and now they have found her."

Hagari added: "We will release the hostages, this is our duty and our moral responsibility, that is why we are fighting and continue to fight."

Only on Sunday, the Irish ambassador to Israel was summoned for a reprimand at the Foreign Ministry, following the Irish prime minister's remarks. Cohen also reacted angrily to the Irish prime minister's remarks: "Mr. Prime Minister, it looks like you've lost your moral compass and you need a reality check!"
