Sergeant Major (res.) Neriah Shaer, 36, from Yavne, fell yesterday (Sunday) in battle in the central Gaza Strip. He is survived by his parents, Reuven and Anat, and a brother and sister, Ohad and Hadar. His sister Hadar wrote about him: "My dear and beloved brother Naria. The humblest of men, with a heart of gold, with great giving and love of the land. He fought with great courage and bravery, fell in battle in Gaza. It is impossible to understand and contain the magnitude of the loss."
Roi Gabay, Mayor of Yavneh: "Tonight we received difficult and heartbreaking news about the death of Maj. (res.) Neria Shaer, 36. Neria, a soldier in Battalion 6655 of the 55th Brigade ("Spearhead Formation"), grew up in Yavne and fell yesterday in battle in the Gaza Strip. On behalf of myself and the residents of Yavneh, I share in the grief of the Sha'er family and friends. We will continue to accompany and support the family." Neria's funeral will take place today at 14:00 in the Yavne cemetery.
