A surface-to-surface missile launched Wednesday at Eilat from the Red Sea was intercepted by the Iron Dome system. It was the first time sirens had sounded in the city since fighting resumed last weekend after 12 days without warning.
An IDF spokesperson said: "Following warnings in the area of Eilat, a surface-to-surface missile was identified that was launched into Israeli territory and successfully intercepted in the Red Sea area by air defense fighters using the Arrow long-range defense system. The target did not cross into Israeli territory, and did not pose a threat to civilians, and the warning was activated in accordance with policy."

This is the fifth time since the outbreak of the war that the Arrow system has been used. Four times the Eilat area was used, and the fifth time the missile was fired at a threat from the Gaza Strip.
