Res. Maj. Matan Damari, 31, from Dimona, a squad commander in the 215th Fire Brigade's reconnaissance company, was killed yesterday (Tuesday) by mortar fire in the northern Gaza Strip. Graduate of Yeshivat HaSeder Sderot, class <>, grew up and was educated in Eilat, and after his marriage moved to the city of Dimona.

Son of veterans of the city: Moshe Damari - a physical education teacher and Zehava Tal Damari - a pensioner of the police. Amit and Roi's older brother, Ido and Noa's father, and Eden's husband.

His funeral will be held today on Wednesday at 13:00 in the Dimona cemetery.

Rabbi David Pendel, head of the Seder Yeshiva in Sderot, says: "This is a huge loss. Matan is a guy who always strived for excellence, exemplary order in life, humble, with a lot of simplicity. He was a very good friend with a big heart, a man who deserved the title of a good man. When he died, he sanctified heaven there."
