This evening (Thursday), a special ceremony was held to light the first candle of Hanukkah in the Western Wall plaza, with the theme "Turning on the Light for the Abductees." On this occasion, 138 menorahs, like the number of abductees held captive by Hamas, were lit by representatives of the families of the abductees at the Western Wall, at the same time as the lighting of the central menorah.

The event was attended by Jerusalem Mayor Moshe Leon and Israel's Chief Rabbis.
