Lavi, which fights for civil rights and good governance in Israel, filed a police complaint Thursday against New Party Secretary General Amjad Shavita for expressing support for a terrorist organization. The organization's complaint stated, among other things, that "the consistent support for terrorism and terrorists by Shabita is even worse because he is a well-known public figure, whose publications are widely viewed and who has extensive influence in the Hadash party, a party from which four Knesset members currently serve in the Israeli Knesset."

According to the complaint, Amjad expressed support for terrorism several times. According to journalist Avishai Greenzaig's publication, Bita liked a post praising Hamas and their fight against Israel. In the background of the same post is a picture of Arabs celebrating with Hamas and Palestinian Authority flags alongside the caption "We are all grateful to Gaza." The text of the same post read: "Every drop of blood, every dusty body, every wounded, all those who lost loved ones, their home and their money, and all the besieged who were abandoned and our knights who draw their arms, those who climb on the enemy's tanks and who head the best sons of this nation."

Two days earlier, Shabita shared a video on his Twitter account celebrating the release of one of the terrorists released in the prisoner deal, Melek Salman, who was convicted of attempted murder, among other things.

Lavi said: We welcome the handling of the complaint by the Israel Police, the Hadash party secretary-general's support for Hamas terrorists cannot be put on the agenda.
