Antisemitic shooting in New York: A man was arrested in Albany, New York, after opening fire at a synagogue and shouting "Free Palestine." There were no casualties in the incident.

Mufid Fawaz al-Hadder was arrested and charged with possession of a firearm by an illicit person, FBI spokeswoman Sarah Rowan told NBC News. Al-Hadr is a 28-year-old Muslim, according to two law enforcement officials briefed on the matter.

No one was injured in the incident, in which two shots were fired from a shotgun outside Temple Israel synagogue around 14 p.m., Albany Police Chief Eric Hawkins said. Police don't know in which direction the shots were fired, he said.

The shooter fled but confronted another man in a nearby parking lot, Hawkins said. "The suspect at that point made some statement to this person who was in the vehicle that he felt he was a victim," the police chief said.

The suspect then dropped the shotgun, and officers arrived and arrested him, said Hawkins, who stressed that al-Khadr acted alone and that there was no further threat to the community. There was also no damage to the building.
