Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu refrained Sunday night from bringing up the two cabinet decisions – the deduction of taxes to the Palestinian Authority and the entry of Palestinian workers from Judea and Samaria – that he planned due to ministerial opposition. The decision to bring in workers was also supported by the defense establishment.
Regarding the introduction of workers from Judea and Samaria, many ministers repeated in the room the opposition they had expressed even before the discussion of the proposal. It seems that for this reason, Netanyahu did not hold a vote.
In addition, no discussion was opened regarding tax payments to the Palestinian Authority, after Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich, who has the authority, announced in advance that he would not transfer payments to the PA that might reach Gaza.
The hearing itself at night lasted about five hours. Even earlier, ministers of the socioeconomic cabinet recommended not bringing in workers from Judea and Samaria.
