Hassan Bitmaz, a member of the Turkish parliament, collapsed on Tuesday due to cardiac arrest while giving an anti-Israel speech. During his speech, he strongly criticized the military conduct and the Turkish government, which, he claimed, "continues the cooperation between the countries and the continuation of trade with Israel."
Bitmaz, a member of the Sadet party, an Islamist nationalist party belonging to the Turkish opposition, spoke out against President Erdogan, prompting knocking on tables and jeers from members of the president's Justice and Development Party.
The MP attacked Erdogan for still cooperating with Israel, holding a sign saying "Israel is murderers" and saying "Allah will punish you." He also accused Israel of "crimes against humanity" and "ethnic cleansing" of Palestinians.
After he collapsed, other MPs rushed to him and performed CPR on him until the ambulance arrived. According to reports on the Turkish-language BBC, Bitmaz was evacuated to a hospital in the capital and is in intensive care.
