"The extraordinary EU summit on the revision of the European budget will be held on February 1st." This was stated by the President of the EU Council Charles Michel during a press conference with Belgian Prime Minister Alexander de Croo. Belgium holds the rotating presidency of the EU as of January 1.

"On the revision of the EU budget at the last council, we understood that more time would be needed to be able to reach a unanimous agreement and convince Hungary: we are determined to work hard to get the green light from Budapest as well,"Michel stressed, adding that it is not only aid to Ukraine but "a broader package" that is at stake. For example, on migration - both internally and externally - and on solidarity in the event of natural disasters. But also investments in the European defence industry or climate change.
