Upon assuming his position, Galant instructed to advance staff work to examine the issue, and later the Director General of the Ministry of Defense – Maj. Gen. (res.) Eyal Zamir – appointed Brig. Gen. (res.) Amit Edri to head the team established for this purpose. With the outbreak of the war, the study was updated and its recommendations were presented to the Minister of Defense, mainly the aforementioned recommendation, after examining a number of alternatives.
Upgrading the status of CSCs is one of the steps promoted by the Ministry of Defense and the IDF to upgrade defense at the borders and in general, and to strengthen the defense components in localities and the structure of the fitness of the alert squads and their equipment. The formulation of the outline is currently in the works with the Ministry of Finance and the staff work with the relevant government ministries, regional councils, CSCs and the IDF Employees Association is being promoted.
